Stretch Hood Packaging: Total Weather Protection + Premium Finish (Without Heat)

Stretch Hood is a highly efficient pallet packaging system that applies a tubular film over the load and adapts tightly to its dimensions. It delivers total load protection and a high-quality, transparent finish — while using only the film needed for the job.

Best for: outdoor storage, export shipments, long-haul transport, dusty environments, and any pallet that must arrive clean, stable, and protected.

Why Choose Stretch Hood Technology?

Stretch Hood is often selected when companies need the highest level of pallet protection and a premium appearance, while still reducing packaging waste and simplifying the end-of-line process.

Stretch hood provides total protection against moisture dust and outdoor exposure

Total Protection & Impermeability

Stretch Hood is designed to provide full coverage and protection against rain, humidity, dust, and UV exposure. The film conforms tightly to the load geometry for a secure, sealed package.

  • Excellent for outdoor storage and harsh shipping conditions
  • Helps keep loads clean, dry, and presentation-ready
  • Transparent hooding delivers a wrinkle-free finish
Stretch hood system reduces film waste and packaging costs

Lower Packaging Costs (Film + Energy)

Because Stretch Hood uses only the film required to protect the load — and does not require heat — it can reduce waste and simplify utilities compared to heat-based systems.

  • Uses the exact amount of film needed for the pallet
  • No oven / no heat energy required
  • Cleaner, simpler operation and maintenance

Fast Throughput + Transport Stability

Stretch Hood is engineered for high-speed end-of-line packaging and strong load containment, reducing the risk of shifting, falling, or product breakage during transit.

  • High-speed hooding for optimized production flow
  • Stabilizes loads via vertical and horizontal contraction forces
  • Improves consistency vs manual or inconsistent wrapping

How Stretch Hood Works

Stretch Hood applies a tubular hood of multilayer film over the pallet, then stretches and releases it to conform tightly to the load. The result is a clean, transparent, protective “second skin” around the pallet.

1
Load arrives Pallet enters the hooding station via conveyor for a repeatable, automated cycle.
2
Tubular film is prepared The machine forms and positions a tubular hood sized to your pallet footprint and height.
3
Hood is applied The hood is pulled down over the load, then stretched and released to conform tightly.
4
Protected pallet exits A sealed, stable pallet leaves the system ready for storage, staging, or shipment.

Stretch Hood Applications

Stretch Hood is commonly selected when loads must remain protected and stable through storage, staging, and transport — especially for products sensitive to moisture, dust, or load shifting.

Ceramics / Heavy Industrial Products

Ideal for heavier loads that benefit from strong containment forces to prevent shifting, leaning, or breakage.

  • Improved load stability for dense or rigid products
  • Weather-resistant protection for outdoor staging
  • Consistent packaging quality across shifts

Options, Layout, and Line Integration

Most installations are engineered around your pallet rate, load geometry, and upstream/downstream equipment. We can integrate Stretch Hood into a complete end-of-line flow with roller conveyors, transfers, accumulation, and control integration.

Film & Hood Sizing

We match hood width/length and film characteristics to the pallet footprint, height, and required protection level.

  • Optimized film usage for cost control
  • Designed for consistent hood placement
  • Supports stable, repeatable packaging quality

Conveying & Flow

Proper conveying and accumulation prevents bottlenecks and keeps pallets staged correctly for high uptime.

  • Infeed/outfeed roller conveyors
  • Transfers, turntables, or accumulation zones
  • Footprint-friendly layouts for tight end-of-line areas

Controls & Safety

Safety guarding, sensors, and integrated controls keep the line running reliably while protecting operators.

  • Integration with palletizers and downstream handling
  • Operator-friendly HMI and repeatable recipes
  • Built for industrial uptime expectations

Stretch Hood FAQs

Is Stretch Hood good for outdoor storage?

Yes — Stretch Hood is commonly selected when pallets are stored outdoors or shipped in variable weather, because the hood provides full coverage and strong protection against moisture and dust.

How do we know if Stretch Hood is better than Shrink Hood for our loads?

It usually comes down to required throughput, desired finish, energy/utilities, and load geometry. If you share pallet dimensions, product type, and pallets/hour, we can recommend the best-fit technology.

What information do you need to quote a Stretch Hood system?

Pallet footprint, max pallet height, pallet weight, product type, storage/shipping conditions (indoor/outdoor), desired pallets/hour, and a simple layout or photos of your end-of-line area.

Can Stretch Hood integrate with our conveyors and palletizer?

Yes. We can integrate Stretch Hood into existing roller conveyor systems and coordinate layout, safety, and controls for a smooth end-of-line flow.
