Liquid Line Magnets (T-Trap)

Capture ferrous and work-hardened stainless contaminants in sanitary liquid processing lines. Choose Plate or Tube styles—Single Plate, Dual Plate, Multi-Tube, and Large Tube—to fit your flow characteristics, viscosity, and cleaning preferences.

Liquid Line T-Trap magnet in sanitary process piping

Built in 316/304 stainless to USDA/3-A standards with Rare Earth circuits, Liquid Line T-Traps are typically installed before pumps, screens, mills, or fillers to protect equipment and product integrity. Standard line sizes 1½″–6″, up to 200 psi, with EPDM (std), Buna-N, or Viton gaskets and options like water jacket and high-temp builds.

Single Plate Style T-Trap for low-volume gentle flow Single Plate — gentle flow; fragile products

Single Plate Style T-Trap

Designed for low-volume applications that require gentle flow and minimal shear—ideal for fragile or long, sinewy products (fruit preserves, cooked meat chunks, cottage cheese). Capture lines form in two parallel rows for easy, fast cleaning.

Dual Plate Style T-Trap for higher flows Dual Plate — gentle flow with higher throughput

Dual Plate Style T-Trap

For higher flow systems that still require gentle handling. Two plate elements increase exposure while maintaining low shear—great for viscous/fibrous foods where degradation must be avoided.

Tube Style T-Trap with multi-tube magnetic element Tube Style — multi-tube element; high capture of fines

Tube Style T-Trap (Multi-Tube)

Recommended for liquids, purees, and small solids in medium-to-high flow lines. A stainless multi-tube magnetic element maximizes contact to capture fine ferrous and work-hardened stainless that often bypass metal detectors.

Large Tube Style T-Trap with single large-diameter tube Large Tube — single large-diameter tube; very high flows

Large Tube Style T-Trap

Uses a single, large-diameter tube for very high flow rates while maintaining sanitary design and easy wipe-down cleaning. Ideal when pressure drop and plugging must be minimized.

Viscosity & Flow Selection

Maximum magnetic efficiency is achieved at lower flow rates and lower viscosities. Match your product to a viscosity group and size the T-Trap accordingly:
Group 1 beverages, thin soups, syrups • Group 2 crushed fruits/veg, medium syrups • Group 3 heavy purees, sauces, warm jam, creamed cheese • Group 4 minced/ground meat, pet foods, thick batters/cooled products.

Liquid Line Magnet FAQs

Plate vs. Tube style — which should I choose?

Use Plate style (Single or Dual) for gentle handling, fragile or chunky products, or where shear must be minimized. Choose Tube style (Multi-Tube or Large Tube) for liquids, purees, and small solids at higher flows—multi-tube offers the highest capture of fines.

What gasket and material options are available?

EPDM is standard; Buna-N and Viton are available. Sanitary 316/304 stainless construction to USDA/3-A standards with Tri-Clamp ferrules is standard; multiple connection types and high-temp options are available.

Where should I install the T-Trap?

Ahead of pumps, screens, mills, or fillers. For full drainage (no sump), mount vertically. Provide access for safe, regular cleaning.

How often should I clean it?

At planned shutdowns or batch changeovers, and whenever buildup is observed. Always de-pressurize, follow clamp and safety guidelines, and inspect gaskets during reassembly.
